Laser Vision Correction: Fifteen Minutes That Will Change Your Life!

Lasik Eye Surgery in Princeton, NJ

LASIK corrective surgery has quickly become the most common elective vision procedure in the United States. In fact, more than 31 million procedures have been performed worldwide!

What are the results like?

LASIK (laser in situ keratomileusis) is truly a life changing procedure, with amazing results. It can effectively correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and even astigmatism.

Laser vision correction is designed to reduce, or even eliminate your dependence on glasses and contacts. In fact, more than 98% of our LASIK patients have achieved 20/40 vision after surgery, and over 96% now have perfect 20/20 vision.

Are there any pre-surgery requirements?

Once we've determined your candidacy and you've decided that you'd like to move forward with your LASIK procedure, there are a few pre surgery requirements you need to fulfill. Keep in mind, this will be fully explained to you in detail prior to surgery.

Some of your requirements may include:

  • Arranging for a driver post-surgery
  • Refraining from using contacts for approximately 2 weeks leading up to surgery
  • No make-up, perfume, hair spray, or after shave on surgery day

After surgery, there will be some additional rules you must follow, which will also be explained in detail prior to surgery. This may include:

  • Refraining from physical activity for 1 week
  • Avoiding public swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas for 1 month.
  • Avoiding voluntary contact with your eyes as much as possible (itching, rubbing, etc)

You will also be given a strict eye drop schedule to follow, as well as some other small adjustments, like avoiding reading, TV, and excessive eye strain for 24 hours. Again, this will all be outlined very clearly before surgery.

Importance of realistic expectations

It is essential that you have a realistic goal of reducing your dependency on glasses and contacts. Laser vision correction does not always create perfect 20/20 vision.

Although most cases are successful in improving vision, this is a very serious decision, and should not be taken lightly.

At LASIK EXPERTS we encourage you to ask us as many questions as you need prior to surgery, so you can make an educated, and informed decision.

If you're interested to learn if you're a good candidate for LASIK, please give us a call. We'd be more than happy to set up an initial consultation, where we will run a few tests to determine your candidacy for the procedure, as well as answer any other general questions you may have.

We look forward to meeting you, and bringing you one step closer to clear, un-obstructed sight.
